Podcast Updates December 30th 2012

Retro Gamer Episode 1 is now available, first new retool on gaming reviews (retro gaming here with reviews from the SEGA Genesis as well as the Nintendo consoles like the SNES, Nintendo 64 and Game Cube). SNES reviews specific coming in Episode 2 featuring reviews of Demolition Man, Star Trek The Next Generation and the Super Star Wars games.

Meanwhile working on Nintendo Life Episode 1 right now (featuring stuff on the Wii and 3DS for review). Stay tuned for updates.

FINALLY UPDATED... and finally gearing up to get back to work!

DS Life Episode 4 and 5 is presently out, and I am almost finished with 3DS Habit Episode 1 to get it out. Now that I am doing actual audio I will be assembling 3DS Habit Episode 2 shortly (once I pick the topics and begin assembling the cast).

So slowly but surely I will be getting this back on track. Stay tuned.

Reimaging 3DS Life

Through carelessness on my part I inadvertibly ended up deleting 3DS Life in whole... well, since I have to repost it anyway I am taking the time to revamp and revitalize the series. Presently working on Episode 1, a mix of new, archive and revisited reviews and topics. The first episode should be done soon. Presently also bringing back DS Life as a mix of new and archive reviews (clearing off whatever DS reviews were on 3DS Life as I archive the old reviews in the new casts and update commentaries along with new content. DS Life Episode 4 should be out shortly. Stay tuned for updates.

Well I was going to release 3DS Life Ep 20 today but thanks to the unpredictable nature of family that is put off until tomorrow, knock on wood.

Couldnt get ahold of any summer olympics games in time for the olympics sadly. Darn. Next goal is Veteran's day and I am planning a Wii Life cast in that vein with one game already in hand.

Celebrating the first anniversary of 3DS Life, we talk apps (present and wanted) on the 3DS, as well as review Animal Crossing Wild World DS and Pokemon HeartGold DS (so much is happening in these new DS games I may have to post updates in 3DS Life... or spin off a cast just to cover Pokemon talk... we'll see.

April 1st and no donations for me because of... legal issues?!?

The new Nintendo Hawaiiana stuff is out right now... but my request for old school game donations got axed from one of the two pieces... because of legal issues!

How things have changed from some years back when people donated to the likes of the Angry Video Game Nerd... sigh. But what can you do about it? Laws these days, honestly, but that's life. Anyway realistically? Maybe its not the best of times to ask... sigh. Well so much for that, sigh.

April's big news is the restructuring of SEGA so my May article is going to talk about that and how it may affect Nintendo releases (one release, Aliens : Colonial Marines for the Wii U is beyond safe, especially since the developer of the game jyst came out praising the Wii U).

That's in May, stay tuned.

March 8th has some big things for the 3DS eshop.

- SEGA Game Gear games finally added to Virtual Console as of tomorrow.

Now we just need Atari Lynx and Turbografx 16.

- New mini golf game coming tomorrow which allows you to use your Miis in the game.

- First non NES Ten game releases tomorrow (NES Punch Out!! with Mr. Dream)

3DS Game Demos available through Nintendo Zone... so?

Recently Nintendo announced that you can access demos to try out through Nintendo Zone services at places like McDonalds and Starbucks... only so what? Its the exact same ones you already downloaded off the eshop. If you thought that Nintendo Zone would mean access to new demos... not yet. Something Nintendo needs to work on to make it worth dropping into McDonalds... huh? You can now watch full Pokemon episodes (4 at a time) on Nintendo Zone? Great!... plan to spend half an hour to an hour and a half in a McDonalds or Starbucks? No? Yeah... Nintendo needs to offer downloadable episodes so we can take them home.

This week (February 16th) sees the first NES game go on sale on the 3DS eshop.

Today Super Mario Brothers (NES) went on sale on the eshop for $5... and, for Ambassador Program owners, an update to the game was made available.

So I'll review it for Nintendo Hawaiiana and for 3DS Life Ep 15... now looking forward to next week's update and what NES games are added.

Today worked solely casting Equestria This Week Episode 8, but in the meantime also scripted 3DS Life Episode 14 and that is nearly done. Once I finish casting Episode 13 and DS Life Episode 3 I'll be working on that next. Stay tuned for updates.

Nintendo Network for Nintendo Wii U and 3DS

You probably already heard of this but Nintendo is getting the Nintendo Network this year for Wii U and 3DS. And that... is apparently mimicking XBox Live which Sony has been doing for sometime themselves... yeah well better late than never.

Plus sides?
- Full 3DS games for sale
Means you don't have to run down to the nearest well sticked Target or Gamestop to get 3DS games... but you'll probably have to snap up $50 VISA Gift Cards just for one $40-$50 gzme... and then you'll need to drop coin on a bigger SD card of 8GB or higher.

I'm already researching that, so stay tuned for that once I find an affordable 8GB or 16GB SD card for your 3DS.

- Premium DLC including Pay for Download (PFDLC) content. Both of which is already on its way, starting with free downloadable demos and paid dlc with Theatrhythm Final Fantasy (Japan) and Fire Emblem 3DS.

- The end of Friend Codes
That doesn't bode well for the original DS by the way... does this mean the DS to DSi's days are numbered? Who can say. But if you are not a fan of Friend Codes its good news for you and the future of online multiplayer gaming on the 3DS.

Podcast Restoration Day 2

Day 2 of the podcast restorations... but we are down to 3DS Life and that'll be last... so maybe 1-2 days conservatively before 3DS Life begins to get converted, and some episodes might get split into 2 parts... we'll see. Updates as they come along. Stay tuned.

In the meantime we are scouting for a new file sharing site to go to next should, heaven forbid, we need to. What is now the new heir apparent after the fall of Megaupload? Let us know.

DS Life links restored

DS Life podcast links now restored. It was the shortest link list of the active casts so it didn't take too long... thankfully.

The longest list will be 3DS Life, and that'll be done last.

Wii U Life will be relaunched later this year with a fresh new Episode Zero once I confirm when I'm adding it to the reviews lists.

While working on DS Life and getting that back up I ran into news of a second 3DS game with paid DLC... well, Nintendo did promise last year to go with more premium content this year... so there you go.

We finally kick off restoring the archives. Switched to mediafire, going to use rapid share for backup once things are rolling along normally.

Podcast Reconstruction Day Minus 1

In the aftermath of the destruction of Megaupload by the nefarious forces of the Dept. of Injustice (probably a branch office of the Injustice League of America), I'll be taking the next so many days to reload casts and set up a new cast schedule.

The main body of work begins Sunday (January 22nd) but for now here is what will be going on.

Nintendo 3DS Demo Update

Abit of an update on upcoming demos, thanks to IGN.

Now - Resident Evil Revealations
1/26 - Mario and Sonic at the 2012 London Olympic Games
TBA - Metal Gear Solid Snake Eater 3D and Rayman Origins

Nintendo of America announces that they will update demos "periodically"... so much for hoping they'd catch up with Japan faster than "eventually" if ever. Oh well, 3DS Episode 14 will at least feature RE Revelations and Mario & Sonic 2012 London demos at any rate.

3DS Life Episode 14 Update

Just started laying out Episode 13 and already we have an update for Episode 14.

Taking a break from the reviews of the Game Boy Advance Ten to get caught up on new stuff, including more Nintendo coin traded games and the first free demos on the 3DS... nice to see Nintendo of America is getting caught up to Nintendo of Japan if only slowly, they still have way more demos than we do on the 3DS.

After over a week of cooling of the heels because of family I'm finally back to it. A few hours remain today, then one day of inactivity tomorrow due to family so lets see what we can get done today.
